The BIPOC Arts Network and Fund prioritizes artists and organizations who have demonstrated a long-term investment in this city and the thriving of our communities.
The artist award is intended for current residents of the Houston area, and the 9-county region must currently be the primary focus of their service and support. The residency requirement must be both current and continuous for a minimum of two years (24 months).
The 9-county Greater Houston Region includes:
- Austin County
- Brazoria County
- Chambers County
- Fort Bend County
- Galveston County
- Harris County
- Liberty County
- Montgomery County
- Waller Counties
- If I have lived in Houston for over 2 years and recently moved (5 months ago) to a county outside of Houston, would I still qualify? Or do I have to currently be living in Houston?
- You must be currently living in the 9-county Houston area.
- I have a long history of work in the Houston area, but I am currently pursuing an advanced degree outside the 9-county region. I intend to return.
- You must be currently living in the 9-county Houston area.
- I’ve lived in Houston since 2018 but moved out of state and then back in the last two years. Am I ineligible?
- If you are currently living in the 9-county Houston area, and you have been for the past 2 years, then you are eligible to apply.
- I have moved within the 9-county Houston area within the two years.
- You have still met the eligibility requirement. You are not required to have been resident at the same address for the past 2 years.
