How many hours per week do you spend collaborating with other artists in the group?

What sort of time commitment will be expected?

Are these encounters going to be in-person or virtual?

Is the cohort experience required?

The Artist Award is an investment in artists who are committed to their communities and committed to a learning cohort with the other award recipients. The reviewers will  be looking in the application for demonstrations of those commitments.

In the application, three questions focus on the artist's intentions to contribute to and learn from a shared cohort experience and will help the reviewers recognize applicants who could join as arts leaders in a learning community.

BANF and the artist cohort will co-create their shared cohort experience. As a framework for cultivating the cohort over 18 months, BANF will likely invite the awards recipients to participate in facilitated gatherings for a couple of hours about once a month.

Besides that, with BANF support, the artists will draw on their own initiative and interests to and commit as much time as it takes to dream, connect, collaborate, and create together.

The learning cohort is mostly live and in-person. Award recipients can expect to gather with the cohort in physical spaces, including spaces the artists identify within their own communities.
